CLAUDIA CARD (1940-2015)
Claudia Card was the Emma Goldman (WARF) Professor of Philosophy in the Philosophy department at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, with teaching affiliations in Woman's Studies, Jewish Studies, Enviornmental Studies, and LGBT Studies. She was the author of over one hundred articles and books, key works of moral and feminist philosophy inclusing Confronting Evils: Terrorism, Torture, Genocide (Cambridge 2010), The Atrocity Paradigm (Oxford 2002), and The Unnatural Lottery: Character and Moral Luck (Temple 1996). She was the president of the Central division of the American Philosophical Association (APA) from 2010-2011. In 1997 she awarded the Distinguished Women Philosopher of the Year award by SWIP.
